Piano masterclass with Alexander and Siavush Gadjiev

This year, the Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti Festival will host three exceptional masterclasses.
Alexander Gadjiev and his father, renowned pedagogue Siavush Gadjiev, will lead a piano course for 12 selected pianists who will deepen their musical expression. The course will conclude with a concert by the participants, Per aspera ad astra, in Ljubljana (SI). The second masterclass, led by Noam Sivan, a world-renowned pioneer of classical improvisation, will be dedicated to improvisation in classical music. The participants will showcase their skills at the final concert, Impromptu, in Gorizia (IT). The festival will also offer a masterclass in composition with the internationally renowned Spanish composer Guillem Palomar.

The international masterclass, led by the award-winning Italian-Slovenian pianist and GO!2025 ambassador Aleksander Gadjiev and his father, musician and music teacher, former professor at the Moscow Conservatory Siavush Gadjiev, will take place from 23 to 29 June 2025. In the spirit of boundlessness, the first part of the masterclass (23-27 June) will take place at the Furlanija Julijska krajina Music Centre in Gorizia (IT), and the second (28-29 June) at the Grand Hall of the Slovenian Philharmonic in Ljubljana (SI).

‘Combining masterclasses and festivals has several advantages,’ explains Alexander Gadjiev. "One of the most important is that it gives participating students direct insight into the development of their artistic careers and encounters with established musicians.  At the same time, placing the festival in a youth context also adds value for the participating artists, as it infuses it with an atmosphere of liveliness and vitality that is not always found in such contexts."

The masterclass, which takes place on stage, is open to the public and free of charge for visitors.

Participants in the masterclass will also perform at three final concerts as part of the Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti Festival:
