“Ana Marija Krajnc is not only a technically refined interpreter – she is an artist who thinks, feels, and seeks connections between notes and silence, between history and the present. Her music needs no explanation, as it speaks directly – through presence, subtlety, and uncompromising dedication.” — Aleksandra Pavlovič for Revija Glasna (2023)

With her in-depth interpretations and exceptional successes at international competitions in recent years, one of the most prominent young Slovenian harpsichordists and organists, Ana Marija Krajnc, has rapidly attracted attention of general and professional public. In 2022, she won first prize at the Gianni Gambi Harpsichord Competition in Pesaro and second prize at the Lauxmin Competition in Lithuania. The following year, she was ranked among the top 15 young organists in the world at the prestigious Musashino Organ Competition in Tokyo. She has performed in Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Serbia, Japan, Austria, and Hungary. In August 2023, she opened and closed the Seviqc Brežice Festival of Early Music with two concerts, performing the complete cycle of sonatas for violin and harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach alongside Catalan violinist Adriana Alcaide.

In Italy, she has performed on several historic organs in Milan, participated in concerts organized by the Società del Quartetto di Milano, and given a recital on historical instruments from the Tagliavini collection at the San Colombano Museum in Bologna. In 2023, she took part in the first edition of the Tirini Bonometti International Organ Festival in Rezzato, where she played the historic Giuseppe Bonatti organ. She was invited back the following year to begin a new program: the complete cycle of six trio sonatas for organ by J. S. Bach, to be completed in 2025. In autumn 2023, she was featured as a rising star on Una sera in discoteca, a program on Italy’s Radio 3 dedicated to young talents.

She began her musical education at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, studying harpsichord with Egon Mihajlović and organ with Dalibor Miklavčič. She continued her studies in Milan under Lorenzo Ghielmi and is currently studying harpsichord and organ at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Andrea Marcon, Andrea Buccarella, and Tobias Lindner. In September, she will complete her master’s degree in harpsichord in Ljubljana with a final recital.

“This young artist achieved unforgettable contrasts in her mature interpretations… her Bach was performed with optimal rhythmic precision and articulation, each note clearly audible; in all the performed works, Krajnc demonstrated an exceptional clarity of texture and great diversity of character.” — Review from the 18th International Harpsichord Festival in Belgrade (2021)
